Л. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde полностью

A great curiosity came to the trustee

(душеприказчика охватило колоссальное любопытство), to disregard the prohibition (/ему захотелось/ пренебречь запретом), and dive at once to the bottom of these mysteries
(и немедленно перейти к самой сути этих тайн; to dive – прыгать в воду; погружаться; bottom – низ, нижняя часть; суть, основа); but professional honour and faith to his dead friend were stringent obligations
(но профессиональная честь и верность своему умершему другу оказались сильнее; stringent – строгий, обязательный; obligation – обязанность, долг); and the packet slept in the inmost corner of his private safe
