Plasmodium: простейшее, возбудитель малярии.

Sacculina: паразитический рачок, живет в крабах.

Toxoplasma gondii: простейшее, обычными хозяевами которого являются кошки и их добыча. Для человека обычно безвредна, за исключением беременных женщин и людей с подорванной иммунной системой.

Trichinella: паразитическая нематода, живет в мышечных клетках.

Паразитолог Роберт Дезовиц написал несколько популярных книг о паразитах, рассматривая их с более медицинской точки зрения, чем я в данной книге (см. Desowitz, 1983; Desowitz, 1991; Desowitz, 1997).
