"Then I must have had the cauchemar," said Poirot philosophically.	- Значит, мне снились кошмары, - не стал спорить Пуаро.
"Unless," put in M. Bouc, "it was something in the compartment next door that you heard."	- А может, - сказал мсье Бук, - до вас донесся шум из соседнего купе?
Poirot took no notice of the suggestion.	Пуаро как будто не расслышал его слов.
Perhaps he did not wish to before the Wagon Lit conductor.	Вероятно, ему не хотелось привлекать к ним внимание проводника.
"Let us pass to another point," he said. "Supposing that last night an assassin joined the train.	- Перейдем к другому пункту, - сказал он. -Предположим, убийца сел в поезд прошлой ночью.
Is it quite certain that he could not have left it after committing the crime?"	Вы уверены, что он не мог покинуть поезд после того, как совершил преступление?
Pierre Michel shook his head.	Пьер Мишель покачал головой.
"Nor that he can be concealed on it somewhere?"	-А он не мог спрятаться где-нибудь в поезде?
"It has been well searched," said M. Bouc. "Abandon that idea, my friend."	- Поезд обыскали, - сообщил мсье Бук, - так что вам придется отказаться от этой идеи, мой друг.

"Vincovci."	- В Виньковцах.
"What time was that?"	- Во сколько?

"Yes, Monsieur.	- Да, мсье.
I got down onto the platform as usual and stood by the step up into the train.	Я вышел на перрон и встал, как и положено, у лестницы, ведущей в поезд.
The other conductors did the same."	Точно так же, как и все остальные проводники.
"What about the forward door - the one near the restaurant car?" "It is always fastened on the inside." "It is not so fastened now."	- А как обстоит дело с передней дверью, той, что около ресторана?
The man looked surprised; then his face cleared.	Проводник было опешил, но быстро нашелся:
"Doubtless one of the passengers opened it to look out on the snow."	- Наверняка кто-нибудь из пассажиров открыл ее -захотел посмотреть на сугробы.
