There was a dead silence for a minute or two.	Наступила тягостная пауза.
Both the Count and the Countess had gone deadly white.	Граф и графиня побледнели.

It still had the southern richness of tone, but it had become suddenly more clear cut and incisive.	Южная живость интонаций сохранилась, но дикция стала более четкой и ясной.
It was, for the first time, a definitely American voice.	Теперь она говорила как типичная американка.
The Count was silenced. He obeyed the gesture of her hand and they both sat down opposite Poirot.	Граф замолчал и, повинуясь жене, сел напротив Пуаро.
"Your statement, Monsieur, is quite true," said the Countess. "I am Helena Goldenberg, the younger sister of Mrs. Armstrong."	- Вы правы, мсье, - сказала графиня. - Я действительно Хелена Г ольденберг, младшая сестра миссис Армстронг.
